Not going to lie, I came to this place with extremely high expectations due to the high amount of 4/5 star reviews. Maybe I was just setting myself up for disappointment. Actually, no, that is not a good word choice here...It's great food, but not mind-blowing great. The atmosphere, the food, the service, the price, everything is nothing beyond above average. None the less, it is still very comforting and gets the job done.

Outside is deceiving, inside is a flurry of great service and wonderful and fresh comfort food. Go hungry, you'll be leaving happy. Brisket omelet, YUM!
(5)Randall S.
Great place for breakfast. Loved the biscuits and gravy. Friendly atmosphere, if I lived near Kansas city, I would come here once or twice a week.
(5)Lady W.
First time find in my own hometown thanks to Yelp! It delivered everything promised!! A little wait on a Saturday but worth it indeed. I tried the hash Benedict and the other person a Kitchen Sink omelet. Cinnamon roll is definitely SPECIAL!!
(5)Phillip L.
This is a fantastic spot up in the Northland for breakfast. I had the Cadillac burrito scrambler and it was glorious. It's a nice sized menu with a little more character than the usual breakfast spots. If you're around and hungry you should definitely stop in.
(4)Robert H.
The prices are very reasonable and the service was good. The food was good, but nothing special... With the exception of the cinnamon roll. We'll definitely be back.
(4)Sharrla R.
This is our 2nd time here, place is always super busy. Hubby had American Classic & I had Waffle Platter as always food was great... Service wasn't bad at all... Would recommend just be prepared to wait is worth the wait
(4)Kris T.
Service was very good considering they were pretty busy and food (we had breakfast) was super yummy. We were just in town to catch a flight and we told our waitress we were on a tight schedule she sprang into action and gave us great service
(4)Jay E.
After reading all of the outstanding reviews of Kate's Kitchen I just do not understand all of the hype. We have tried Kate's Kitchen three times now and just really haven't been that impressed. The food and service have just been alright, nothing special. If you are in the area it's worth stopping by.
(3)Heather P.
Breakfast is as good as it gets at Kate's. I love the daily scramble, this past Saturday it was caritas with green chills, yum! Hubby had the heart attack on a plate otherwise known as chicken fried chicken with gravy and of course biscuits. My little guy always goes for the kids' pancakes that are shaped like Mickey Mouse. The staff is so nice and the place is super clean. Go early or there is a wait.
(4)B. J.
There was a refreshingly friendly staff that was very attentive to patrons needs. Ordered smoked salmon omelette and a from scratch pancake. Everything was flavorful and came out very fast!
(5)Jewel P.
So I was looking for a place for breakfast and saw this one was highly rated. I loved Kate's kitchen and I can see why so many people are charmed by it. Service was wonderful, checking in every so often. They brought refills without being asked. I ordered a ton of food because I wanted to try everything! I ordered half order of biscuits and gravy, 1/2 side order of beef hash, one sunny side up eggs and two pancakes. Everything was amazing! My favorite being the corn hash. It was a lot a food for super cheap! My bill ended being $13 for that feast. I would recommend going if you love good food at good prices!
(5)Sarah D.
Delicious! Kate's kitchen does it right. Everything is made from scratch and it makes all the difference! My personal favorite is the chicken strips. Three huge freshly breaded hunks of deliciousness with homemade honey mustard. Can't. Be. Beat. It gets crazy busy on the weekends so I recommend checking them out on a weekday if you can. But so far every time I've been there the service and food has been great.
(4)Adnil J.
Ate there over the weekend. For the first time. Food was loaded with salt, I ordered corn beef hash and biscuits n gravy. Waffle was undercooked, practically raw. Have heard lots of good things about this place so I was disappointed. Maybe go for lunch next time. Hoping for a better experience.
(3)William H.
Great traditional American breakfast. Easily the best I have had in this part of the city since Woodsweather II closed. Large portions and very attentive service. Outstanding omelets and skillets. I highly recommend the brisket omelet. Only reason this place doesn't get five stars is that they don't serve hash browns. Potatoes themselves really don't have much flavor so they take on the flavor of what you cook them in. And all of that flavor resides on the seared surface of the potato so large chunks of cut up potato with gobs of flavorless unfried potato in the center don't really do it for me. But otherwise this place is outstanding. I'll offer a word to the wise though. Go during a week day if you can. On the weekends there will be lines from hell that stretch well past the outside of the front door.

I've now been to Kate's Kitchen three times, so I feel qualified to review. Every time, my experience gets better and I love the place more and more! The first time I went, I had "The King," waffles with bananas and peanut butter. Very good, although my bananas were a bit underripe. Coffee was hot and fresh and the service was good. Second time, I had a platter with waffles, eggs, and bacon, plus coffee (of course). All delightful. They also made my two year old a Mickey Mouse pancake that he scarfed down and pronounced, "yummy tummy." I agree, kid. I went for the third time today and had a breakfast sandwich and a pancake on the side. The pancake is what prompted me to write this review. It's so easy to phone in pancakes and just make flavorless carb discs. Not here! Light and fluffy, a bit crispy on the outside, with buttermilk notes. You can tell they really put some effort in to the recipe. The service has always been extremely fast and friendly. They greet my children like customers, not nuisances, and are happy to make recommendations. Love this place, don't miss it!
(5)Danny B.
I love breakfast at home, but I adore it out. Breakfast is not a hard meal to do well if you use fresh ingredients and good to order you are almost guaranteed an audience. If you do anything at all beyond the usual, you will have a line waiting for that deliciousness and to prove that point Kate's always has a line. I would eat here more, but we often make the drive by and see if how many are standing outside - and keep on driving. On this morning, we went especially early, I think the golden moment is before 8:30 on Saturday. The food is a bit imaginative and when they have chicken fried steak it's excellent, but it's not on the menu. The chicken fried chicken I cannot recommend. The giant cinnamon rolls, yes! Also, the hot chocolate. It's all good, butt the smoked salmon, cream cheese, tomatoes, onions, and hollandaise omelet and the French toast topped with warm caramel sauce, banana and pecans, it's great!
(4)Ayala M.
Driving through town and decided to use Yelp to guide us to a breakfast spot. I had the blueberry pancakes and my husband had the breakfast sandwich. The pancakes were so fresh and yummy! The sandwich was gone in 2 minutes so what does that tell you??? lol We also received on the house the cinnamon roll which was sooooooooo good! Glad yelp didn't fail us. The service was great and our waiter made sure she was on top of things the entire time. Check it out you won't be disappointed
(4)Mike W.
Haven't been to Kate's kitchen in over a year, and walking in the front door, nothing's changed, which is a good thing. Met a friend for breakfast, kinda funny, she drove past the place 3 times, explaining, she saw it, but thought it was a video store...lol...after a 2 1/2 hour breakfast, we could have eaten and watched a flick easily. I like the concept of coffee pot on the table and ice water too, fill as you need it, which we did...I think that practice started at First Watch... Simple decor, almost too plain, but it matches the powder blue Kate's kitchen sign outside. Place was hopping, tables full and lots of waiting, not a big fan of paying the bill in the waiting area, it seems rather congested...but it works all the same, the line to pay snaked in front of several tables, which if I was sitting there, would be annoying. Service was prompt as I remembered, ordered, and 10 minutes later, my masterpiece arrived. I ordered the cinnamon French toast, topped with caramel sauce, bananas and pecans, with 2 eggs and bacon. Food was good, wondered if they used processed eggs from a carton, they had a slightly different flavor and texture than fresh eggs out of the shell. Have never ordered lunch, always breakfast, but they have an extensive menu, and are not open for dinner. Like most places, you go for the gossip, and if the foods good, it's a bonus. Looks like both worked out for most people, as when we were leaving the wait looked to be 30+ minutes. Oh, by the way, we took care of our server for taking her table up for 2 1/2 hours...an $11 tip hopefully made it all good.
(4)Lee P.
Started with great service. Followed by some awesome eggs Benedict. The homemade hollandaise sauce was amazing. I had no less than 4 people helping me. I will be back. Well done.
(5)Chris W.
Not a typical chain restaurant which is always a good start. However, it Doesn't look like a restaurant when you first pull up because it's in a strip mall location. Took the entire family and everyone was able to find something they wanted to order. The service was exceptional and the meal was good. Everyone was pleased with what they received!
(5)Jonathen F.
I would normally give this place 5 stars. However, they say when things go bad, they go really bad. We waited 30 minutes to be seated, they skipped us completely and I had to say something, The management didn't even apologize. The serving staff never once smiled. Our server Mary, served us our food and dropped off our ticket when she dropped off our food. I wanted to order a side of gravy, but the ticket was already on the table. Our server was pissy because I wanted something else. Then before we left I kept watching this creepy old guy, who is suppose to be the Management, staring at patrons butts, and yes I did get a photo of it.
(2)Mina S.
There is a reason why this place always has a line out the door. The food is seriously good (consistent, well priced, fresh). And the staff is ALWAYS friendly. Practically freaky how nice they are all the time!
(5)Darlene C.
Yum, this place is awesome. California fresh sandwich. ..very very good! Husband had Fried Chicken Salad, he says best ever chicken salad in KC area. Love this place
(5)Jeff M.
Decent value based breakfast. For two it cost less than $20. Scramble and omelet were ok only. I think there are several tastier options up north but the price point was fine. Service was great but not a bunch of flavor in the food or breakfast potatoes.
(3)Courtney L.
I feel kinda sad writing this review since everyone seems to LOVE Kate's, but our experience was just average. We went on a Sunday morning and the place was jammed. We waited in the tiny waiting area for about 15 minutes, but by the reviews, I expected this wait, so I was pleased it was only 15. The restaurant is pretty small, but they turnover tables quickly. The decor is homey, but the place is clean despite the number of people they through the door. We ordered the cinnamon roll, the crab cake eggs benedict, and the brisket omelet. The cinnamon roll was good, but small. It was warm, but not hot/just out of the oven. However, the icing on it was really good. I'd order it again, but it's not the best I've had or even in the area. My crab cake benedict was also only okay. A solid meal, but certainly not what I was expecting from the raving reviews. The hollandaise sauce wasn't very flavorful and all the flavors of the dish kinda just blended together without anything standing out. Needs a kick of something... My husband really liked his brisket omelet, but I would have been disappointed if it was mine. Being in KC, I imagine brisket being piping hot, smokey and saucy. Yum - now that would be really good in an omelet! Instead it was like deli sliced brisket and just warm. No sauce and just large chunks thrown in the omelet baked around it (instead of being diced and mixed in). We definitely got a solid breakfast at Kate's, but it didn't hold up to the reviews posted here. You can't really go wrong with Kate's, but to me it wasn't worth the wait. I'll probably give it another try someday, but I think there are better breakfast options in the Northland :)
(3)Sierranearl R.
My family and I went here twice in one week for breakfast when visiting Kansas City. This place has some gooooood food! The server was AMAZING. When you go ask for Jackie. She is sooo sweet and will make sure that you leave pleased. Everything thing was good. My favorite is the smoked salmon omelet. Please don't leave without ordering their signature Cinnamon Rolls, we ended up ordering 6 togo. Lol.
(5)Elliott A.
Love there breakfast food, been there about dozen times and it's great. Great service, great good all around great place.
(5)Amy P.
I have been going to Kate's Kitchen for about 4 years now and just started working there this summer. Obviously I am biased since I work there, but I do want to compliment the staff. I love my job because of the people I work with. Everyone is so nice and we all get together like a family. If it weren't for the people I work with the job wouldn't be as good as it is. And p.s. If you go to kates get the marble rye magic. It was my favorite before I started working there and is still my favorite to this day.
(5)Lesa F.
very nice hidden treasure for lovers of breakfast/brunch!
(4)Susan C.
Who doesn't love breakfast food?! So many options, such a lovely staff with a homey vibe. The wait on a Saturday morning (showed up at 9ish) was around 15 minutes, not bad at all.
(4)Rachel J.
Kate's Kitchen is always "spot-on" when it comes to their courtesy, service, food and ambiance! I try to get a new dish every time and I haven't been disappointed once. I believe I have frequented this great spot around 10 times. I have held small business meetings there, ordered carry out and have dined for personal pleasure. The only downside to the wonderful restaurant is how busy they are. It seems like everyone knows the secret on North Oak! However, they always have adequate staffing and wait times are short. All in all, very affordable, family friendly and tasty!
(5)Trish G.
The service is on point, they're so friendly and attentive! My favorite is the Eggs Benedict...you get a lot for your money. They typically have a small waiting list during the week and longer on the weekends, but soooo worth it!! Best breakfast in the Northland!!
(5)Paul C.
This having been my first time in the Kansas City area, and upon the recommendation of a local, I came here for a late breakfast - brunch actually - as I had a taste for eggs and it was after 12. Even though the place was busy, I got a table immediately and was pleased with the quick service. The tables are set with glasses and a pitcher of ice water, so you never have to ask for more water unless the pitcher empties, I guess. I ordered hot decaf tea and was pleased to receive a two-mug carafe, two tea bags, and two honey servings with a slice of lemon. The corned beef hash Eggs Benedict was so good I came back the next day for it again. I was delighted with the quickness of the order, as it seemed only a few minutes passed from the time I placed the order to the time it was brought out. A few days later I came for lunch. Again the place was busy, but I was seated immediately. I ordered a soft drink and placed my order for their Reuben sandwich, and I was not disappointed. Quick, hot delivery, delicious food, and refills on my soft drink without having to ask! If I return to the area again, I will definitely be back. Highly recommended for breakfast or lunch - they're only open until 2, so plan accordingly!
(5)Ana C.
The service makes all the difference for us. We came on a Wednesday morning just after 8 and the place was buzzing. Our group was two adults and three kids, two with autism. The staff were very understanding and didn't blink an eye with our spectrumy behaviors. Jackie was our server and I just can't say enough about how sweet she was to us. Food was delicious and came out fast.
(5)Perry P.
Bottom Line Up Front: Friendly staff. Better than Denny's and IHOP. Cheap. Egg's benedict is on point. The staff here is super friendly and attentive. Beware of having to wait on weekends, this place can get busy from the time it opens til it closes. We've always showed up right before the wait but we see it on the way out. Our waitress was awesome and very friendly - my cup of coffee was never empty. The egg's benedict was very tasty and the biscuits and gravy tasted great. Not too salty like something you order at IHOP or Denny's. They serve hefty portions which is great considering the low prices. There are a ton of items on the menu, it can be overwhelming. But, the place is so cheap, you can come back all the time and eventually try everything your heart desires.

Mara, Bugs, and me all still on vacation in Kansas City, Missouri. Found this gem and I really like it. So did Bugs. Been here twice now for bfast and yummy is what I got to say. A busy place, and we tried to hit it a third time Sunday noon and the line was out the door. I've had the Chicken fried steak (Friday only) and it is a real cube steak. Many are processed and a grind of some sort. Wish I was here another Friday. Bugs is hooked on the Waffles and he doesn't even look at anything else. Ah, what it was like to be 6 again. Mara can have any thing on the menu sans the meat and they are so very accommodating. I had the chicken finger lunch today and they were more than happy to give me their sausage gravy for my dipping sauce. More than likely we'll see them or the Mixing Bowl Noshery the next two mornings before we head back to the great PNW. Come early, and hit a Friday if you are a real chicken fried steak lover. A MUST TRY in KCMO.
(4)Angie H.
food was good, i wanted the stuffed french toast but 1200 calories so went for the scrambled eggs w/spinach/mushrooms, toast & fruit cup. They were busy but seated me even though I was alone. nice atmosphere and lil Kate was running the cash register!
(5)Terie W.
Seems like a nice local owned place. Ambiance is relaxed. Menu selections are good. I like that they have flavored creamers available.
(4)Laura J.
We went there again yesterday. Amazing food and service. Think they need to expand or have a 2nd location though, the place was busting at the seams!!!
(5)Brandon D.
Wow, this place has all other breakfast places beat by a wide margin. The biscuits and gravy are the best. French toast is top notch. The wait staff is always on their A game. The wait was marginal (considering how busy they were). Just an all around fantastic place to eat, will definitely go out of my way to go back, and the prices were comparable to Denny's/Ihop. A+++
(5)Gantsa Maven Z.
Found this on Yelp today and had to try it. Good parking if you have a trailer too Chicken fried chicken wonderfully seasoned and perfectly cooked crispy and moist. A lovely creamed sauce which had a very good flavor. Eggs Benedict with homemade hollandaise sauce on a bed of fresh spinach and sliced tomato and toasted English muffin. Both meals were served with nice medium cubed country potatoes (not red potatoes) and clearly cooked with onions though few onions were on the plate. The best restaurant biscuit I've had since leaving the East Coast last decade. Friendly service, water pitchers on the table as well as coffee Thermos. I'd definitely come back but we're headin to St. Louie now. Jan 27, 2014
(5)Jessica E.
Probably the friendliest group of employees at a restaurant I've ever seen. They all looked happy to be there, took time to converse with customers who weren't even "theirs", and they were very efficient as well. Good food, great atmosphere, excellent people. Can't ask for much more than that. Will definitely make it a point to come here again.
(5)Michele N.
We went to Kate's Kitchen on a Sunday morning to celebrate my mothers birthday; she loves to go out for a traditional breakfast. Kate's Kitchen delivered exactly what she wanted and then some. There was a short wait, it looked like it was going to be much longer than it was. This place has the look, feel and even the taste of First Watch, which isn't a bad thing; I think that they are loosely related. We started with a cinnamon roll to share between us, what a treat - nothing like dessert first! I'd love to come back one day and have one all to myself! We enjoyed eggs Benedict, biscuits and sausage gravy, a salmon scrambler and of course a traditional eggs, toast and sausage breakfast! Fast, friendly service, good food and reasonable prices would be enough for me to return if I was in the mood for a traditional breakfast.
(3)Allen R.
This is just a really great place to catch breakfast. Jackie was our server and she did an amazing job. She was always smiling and very nice. I ordered the B&G, the wife had a fresh fruit crepe. Food was super good. I ordered a full order of the B&G and could not finish it. The cinnamon roll has cream cheese icing and is also really good. The fruit on their crepe is FRESH too, not out of a can. The best part of the entire experience is at the bottom of your receipt there is a bible verse to help you get through your day. If I could give this 6 stars I would. Great job!
(5)Darrell S.
Throw your calorie-counters out of the window before you enter Kate's Kitchen! Absolutely fantastic place for breakfast and brunch. Do come in early though, waiting time could be almost 30 mins if you arrive after 12:00 pm.
(4)J G.
Second time here and just as good as the first. The corn beef and hash is spot on. Not burnt or over seasoned like most places. Fast service and turnaround time so don't be discouraged by the wait if you get there later.
(5)Mihir B.
This is a very mediocre restaurant. Based on the reviews, we had high expectations. The staff was nice, the food came out quick and it was reasonably priced. However, the food was below average. The eggs were soggy, the potatoes didn't have much flavor and the bacon was nothing special.
(2)Samantha B.
I come for the biscuits and gravy. The staff is very friendly. The food is good and the prices are right.
(5)Ali L.
This is NOT a fu-fu foodie breakfast joint. There is no obscure art on the walls. Your server will NOT be wearing skinny jeans or have a stalking cap on - sorry if you're in to that sort of thing. This is a homestyle breakfast joint with friendly service from genuine and attentive people (5 star service). The food is traditional. Omlets, scrambles, burritos, B&G - nothing super adventurous, but there's no shame in serving down-home, good food. Hubby and I will be back. :)
(4)Jocelyn R.
I was here on a recent Sunday morning for breakfast with a friend - my first visit to Kate's Kitchen. I think it's great to support independently owned local businesses and this place qualifies, but aside from that., we had great food, great service, tasty coffee and a reasonable total bill. I'll definitely be back and would encourage others to check this place out as well!
(5)Michael W.
Headed north based on a review by other Yelp'rs and I'm glad I did. Very clean, well lit and warm feel. The service was excellent and the wait was next to none. I tried the special which was a scramble with spinach, andouille, sour cream and cheese. It was served with potatoes and bread choice. I don't really care for country potatoes (potato chunks) I like hash browns, shreds ya know. I always figure that places that can't cook hash browns do country potatoes. But that aside it was a very good meal for under $10 bucks. I'll recommend this place!
(4)Christopher Thomas B.
This medium-sized, family-ran restaurant is the best in Kansas City, and I've tried most of the breakfast eateries. All the ingredients are fresh and made to order. The prices are unbeatable. I loved the Breakfast Burrito, I could taste every ingredient. I also enjoyed talking physics with the host, he's a very bright man. Compliments to the breakfast chef! Weird hours, get in there before 2!
(5)H K.
Nice place. Good food. Had waffle, sausage and eggs with coffee. Server was great.
(3)Danielle K.
Absolutely Delish. You won't be disappointed. Stumbled upon it through Yelp and decided to give it a try.
(5)Christine P.
My favorite restaurant! I have had breakfast and lunch here and whatever I have has been fabulous! Breakfast entrees you can't lose. Their chicken strips and southwest wrap are awesome. Service is fast and friendly. I love going here on Sunday mornings. You might have a short wait but not bad. Very family friendly! Similar to First Watch but better! And very affordable for wonderful food.
(5)Dick C.
The music is slutty, the food decent, the atmosphere sterile. Probably the best breakfast in such a crummy area of KC.
(3)Kristin P.
I have always had a great experience there. Great service. The waiters have always gone out of their way to be helpful.
(4)Daniel C.
If I could give a zero star review I would. Poor service, along with poor food. I emailed the owner in regards to my service and still after 18 days have yet to hear anything back. Crab cakes were awfull, and had an extreme fishy smell. Server never said anything to me about not eating, and when I said something at checkout all I got was... Oh, ok. I do not usually get upset, I would rather have issues resolved behind the scenes. Yet with the no response or care that day, and still no email back from the owner, I am reaching out. Monitor the food you serve, and take care of your customers. I will post this to as many places as possible
(1)debin b.
FRESH FRESH FRESH! I love the family atmosphere here. This place has been busy every time I have gone but the wait is never long. Staff is on top of it & helpful. I always look forward to going here when I want healthy options for breakfast! I am sure they have not so healthy yummy options too. I am pretty sure they have it all!
(5)Angie H.
No matter how many times I vist, I'm always thrilled with the experience. I'm pretty sure it's not possible to order something bad. I tried a bite of my friend's banana caramelly-something, and that was OUT OF THIS WORLD! Additionally, the service is always extremely friendly, and seems to have a great rapport with one another. The food arrives shockingly quickly.
(5)Al D.
Kate's is a comfortable, reliable, convenient and popular weekend breakfast spot. Their specials feature creative scrambles with fresh and varied meats and veggies. The menu is more interesting than many competitors. Staff and service are exceptional.
(5)Craig E.
Ok Northlanders, thanks for the tip. Kate's is one of those places you would typically find down the street from the courthouse on the town square, but instead they chose the convenience of a strip mall on North Oak Trafficway. It made for good people-watching on the weekend - everything from hung-over college buddies to bible thumpers, to couples staring off into space and eating in total silence. What's up with that? The OJ was fresh; coffee was smooth. I had the smoked salmon omelet with salmon, cream cheese, tomatoes, onions and hollandaise and also tried a side of corned beef hash. I popped an extra capsule of Omega 3 fish oil after and all was well. Kate's....Kate's....ok, I have it committed to memory.
(4)Lisa D.
My new favorite breakfast/brunch place! So fresh and so delicious! We've had several of their omelets and each time they are amazing. The So Cal Omelet is my favorite. Their sandwiches are so divine~ Especially this smoky turkey sandwich with bacon and avocado, YUM! They have amazing bacon and so many fresh ingredients. It truly makes a big difference. I love that they leave a pitcher of water w/ lemon on each table (you never go thirsty). They are always busy, but we get seated quickly and service has always been top notch :) This place ranks way above Corner Cafe for us! So thankful for a great place like Kate's Kitchen!!
(5)Scott D.
Tried once again and I do not understand all the love here on Yelp for Kate's Kitchen. My wife got a scramble, which she described as "cardboard" and I tasted as "rubbery." Green peppers weren't cooked, mushrooms and cheese were tasteless. Her fried potatoes were adequate, though a bit cold. Much better potatoes at Ginger Sue's. She had the biscuit, which my wife thinks are "angel biscuits", possibly prepared considerably (days?) ahead of time, which are like Wonder bread, -not my idea of a biscuit. I had a pancake, which was too refined somehow, as if it were made with cake flour? Syrup was OK, but that's all. We both like butter and I'm sure it's all margarine at Kate's. My over-easy eggs were cooked nicely but we're spoiled on fresh eggs, and these are clearly bland, limp, grocery store dollar-a-dozen eggs. My link sausage was fat and juicy so no complaints on that score. Coffee was cheap, both cost and taste, and plentiful. Once again, the place is immaculate and the service impeccable, which is why I'm not giving one star.
(2)Nick G.
After driving by Kate's kitchen for several years always wanting to check it out I finally went in for breakfast this morning. I was extremely impressed with the service I received and the breakfast menu. I ordered the blueberry pancakes and they were huge and amazing. Very light and fluffy and absolutely hit the spot. The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get. I ordered coffee as well and the outstanding waiter left a pitcher of coffee on my table, no waiting for a refill!! I loved this place and will be going back tomorrow!
(5)Bob I.
This is one of the best places you will ever eat. The food is great & the staff treat you like family. If you are lucky enough to have Pat or Tosha wait on you you will have the best service imaginable. We make it there for breakfast or lunch almost every day. You can't go wrong by going to Kate's.
(5)Linda F.
Favorite breakfast place, love the fact that the menu allows healthy or let's have fun and break the diet! Carmel nut French toast is wonderful.
(5)Katie B.
Wonderful food, incredible service! The only downside is that everyone else loves it too and there is always a wait. It's worth the wait though!
(5)Paul L.
Easily, my favorite breakfast north of the river. The earlier the better :)
(5)Anush J.
This has become our go to breakfast place in KC. Always a crowd, but the turnover is usually quick and we have never waited more than 15 minutes. Service is friendly and attentive, and the food is fresh and tasty. Love the apple pancakes, the crab eggs bendict, and the house potatoes.
(5)Kevin C.
One word: Yum!

Went here two days in a row. Had lunch one day and breakfast the next. Service was great. Food was very tasty! I went simple but we had a variety going on. Everyone in my party loved what they got. I was very envious of the huge belgian waffle. Prices are decent and for a locally owned place, it was worth it.
(4)M K.
LOVE THIS PLACE! Quality Food, Staff and Owners. The food is top notch and you can tell a good quality. They offer a variety of breakfast and lunch options. The only downside is that if you don't get there before noon or 830 on weekends then you are waiting outside for awhile. But definitely a MUST TRY North of the River!!! They are also involved with our community and helping out. Way to GO Kate's Kitchen!
(5)Brenda M.
Yuummy breakfast food, clean atmosphere and affordable prices. I always get one hearty dish and sweet dish to share. I usually go with the scramblers or omelettes, all the ones I've tried have been tasty. Only thing they could improve upon is the temperature of their french toast. I order it everytime and they are lukewarm even when they arrive, I want my french toast so hot that the bread just soaks in the syrup lol.
(4)Andrew P.
Our favorite breakfast place in KC, hands down.
(5)Tom S.
I've had multiple different meals at Kate's, but I can't get enough of the chicken fried chicken! Everything is great though and reasonably priced, my favorite breakfast place in the Northland. Order carry-out if you want to avoid waiting times during the morning and lunch rush!
(5)Mrs T.
I like to go out to breakfast with the friend about every week and get so tired of the same old thing! Decided to finally give this a try and we both liked it! The coffee was good, and the service was great! Food came out really fast and it was good! I had the eggs Benedict with spinach and it was pretty good, my friend had French toast and it was huge!!! Next time we are going to try it for lunch! Oh, they had a bible verse on the bottom of the bill.....I LOVE THAT!
(4)Emmit S.
This place is fabulous. A hole in the wall bc it's in one of those outdoor malls. service has always been great and the food Is amazing. I get the stuff French toast and cinnamon roll plus coffee. Everything is super fresh. I've also had the scrblers and they are good too. and the prices are great for what you get. I recommend go early BC it's a popular spot and can fill up fast. Five stars
(5)Erica B.
Saw this on yelp today and had to try. Great service and reasonably priced. Will be back!

LOVE Kates Kitchen. The breakfast cant be beat. Nice staff and excellent cinnamon rolls. Heads up, it fills up fast so go early.
(5)Shan A.
Arrived early Thursday morning in Kansas City and wanted to find a great breakfast. Thank goodness for Yelp and this recommendation, because both my husband and I were satisfied and full after visiting here. I would recommend this place to anyone and make sure to taste the potatoes!
(5)G T.
Found this place thru Yelp and it was great! Tenderloin was huge n breaded just right, Chicken fingers were breast meat- large, coffee good also. We'll be back
(5)Adrienne S.
Went here for the first time today because it was so highly rated! Got there about 7:30am on a Saturday and beat the rush that occurred at 8! Be prepared to wait in line for 30+ minutes on weekends! Waffles are amazing as well as biscuits and gravy! Kate's Kitchen has a great happy environment and service was awesome and friendly! I am happy to spend money at a local restaurant like this, than at a chain restaurant or franchise .
(5)Lysa C.
The atmosphere was nice- exactly what you would expect. I ordered a Cali omelette and it was great. The only negative was how much cheese it was loaded with! The description states "topped with cheese" however- it was in, under and over! Still good though.

This is one of the reasons I miss living in the Northland (the other is quick access to the airport.) Kate's Kitchen is a great breakfast spot with wonderful food and adept servers. The owner is actually the son of the co-founder of First Watch and there are clearly some similarities between the two. First Watch is definitely a more corporate attitude whereas Kate's Kitchen is much more family friendly in a boisterous slice of strip mall heaven on North Oak Trafficway (the Wornall Rd. of the Northland.) Any menu item is solid here and the food portions are usually pretty large for about the same price as First Watch. The attentive and friendly servers are on top of your every need and will even chit-chat with the table for a few minutes if time permits. This type of amicable service makes you feel like a regular even if it's your first time. Time to open a satellite restaurant in OPKS but in the meantime, I would gladly make the 30 minute drive north to visit and destroy a plate of "Ronnie's Favorite" french toast.

Nice place for breakfast. Similar to other breakfast/brunch places, but doesn't seem to be a chain. That's always a plus when run right and this place appears to be. They do accept credit cards. You never know about mom and pop shops and there was no sign on the door. At 7am on a Saturday they were steady but not packed. Had the Caramel nut French toast suggested by the waitress and some other reviewers. It was good, but not spectacular. Would like to hit it up again to try some of the other dishes if I'm ever back in the Northland for breakfast.
(4)Jocelyn M.
Kate's is good and dependable. They always seem to be busy (I guess I tend to go on weekend mornings/early afternoons) but the wait is usually shorter than quoted. Family-owned and friendly. Great menu options for breakfast and lunch.
(4)Mick E.
Found this place today and it is excellent! My breakfast was delicious and the portions are very generous and I'm a big fat guy !
(5)Jesse T.
Bland, generic, and lacking flavor... I had the special, which was a carnitas omelette with green chile... I don't know how they did it but they found a way to leech all semblance of flavor out of the chilies and left me severely wanting. Everything was out of a can and with two shelves (visible from where we sat) filled with an array of spices it was disappointing that not a single one seemed to ever have been used. If you're fresh out of a stint in a hospital and are missing the culinary perfection of hospital cafeteria fare then this is the oasis you've been seeking.

Good food. The wait is very long to get in on a Sunday morning. Portions are reasonable. Price is average.
(3)Patrick H.
Really nice place for breakfast! - Atmosphere and decor is just like that of First Watch restaurant (if you know that place then you will fit right in)... right down to the water pitcher staying at your table. - Breakfast selection and food quality were great. - Service was friendly and the food was delivered to the table quickly - Best to arive here early as by 9 am Sunday, the place was packed. - Prices are reasonable and my wife and I had a good meal for under $21 - Restaurant is tucked away in a strip mall and can be overlooked when driving by. Just look in the middle of the mall for the big blue sign. Parking there is not a problem as the lot is huge. - I really like the hyper graphic layout of the menu. Its layout makes it easy to find what you want quickly, and easy to browse the rest of the menu. Well Done! - 2 small complaints. 1) the waiting area is undersized for crowded days, and 2) the restrooms are also undersized (just 1 sink).

Looking for a good reasonable Sunday brunch in the area, read the reviews for Kate's Kitchen under the heading "brunch", which there was none...walked in, felt like a small Denny's restaurant...they wanted to seat us where there were a couple of tables pushed together, so we would be elbow to elbow with strangers. The food was not good, I got a croissant with egg, bacon and cheese, potatoes and fruit. The fruit looked like the scraps you toss in the trash when you cut up the fruit, was in a ramekin, so very small, containing slivers of cantaloupe, and one grape, the potatoes were hard and the croissant was soggy and just bland! You could tell they just wanted to get this food out as fast as possible...We drove 25 minutes for this, was very disappointed, and very surprised at the good reviews! We won't be back.

I would give this place 3 1/2 stars. The menu is extensive, service was great, and the prices are about as cheap as it can get for a dine-in breakfast experience. However, I think there is too much hype in the five-star ratings. I had the carmel and pecan french toast, while my wife had the cinnamon french toast. Both were good, but nothing amazing, and nothing to justify the 20 minute wait and people lined up outside the restaurant. My Dad had the American Classic with ham, eggs, hash browns. Also very average he said. We were a bit disappointed with our portion sizes given what other people around us received. One lady received a huge wrap with an entire bowl of fruit, another couple received biscuits and gravy with huge biscuits. The waffles and pancakes took up the entire plates of other diners. Yet, our portions were about average. A couple people on yelp posted pictures of their carmel and pecan french toast and their french toast was easily double my portion. I plan on returning to Kate's Kitchen so I could try the cinnamon rolls and perhaps eggs Benedict. If that isn't at least a four-star meal, I'll probably just stick to my local iHop for breakfast.
(3)Sarah G.
I was a little underwhelmed. The menu was impressive but the food was just regular breakfast food... though above the 'greasy diner' fare in terms of quality. I had the breakfast sandwich with turkey at the recommendation of our server. It was fine. Everything was fine... except for the coffee, and the water. Unfortunately neither of these were palatable and I left feeling a little thirsty. Definitely been a while since I've eaten at a place where the water was dissatisfying. Probably won't be on my breakfast circuit next time I'm in the city.

This little gem is tucked away in an assuming strip mall, it's bright blue sign (and the occasional line out the door) the only indication that the best home-cooking since, well, your Mom's is hidden within. This morning I enjoyed their chicken fried chicken, and it was far better than it had any right to be. My wife enjoyed their special of the day, a scrambler mixed with diced ham, bacon, eggs, and avocado slices. She ended up trading half her delicious meal for about a third of the chicken. The atmosphere is simple but charming and the service is exceptionally quick and friendly. When asked for a recommendation from the menu, I felt like Bailey (or waitress) had a genuine love for the food there, a refreshing change. My goal is to never order the same thing twice there till I've sampled everything that looked appetizing, and I'll be suggesting it as a spot for lunch with my friends from here on.
(5)G P.
Value. For the price, you get excellent quality and quantity. The So Cal omelet was great and absolutely no skimping on the bacon or the avocado which was not just atop, but also on the inside too. The corned beef hash was not overly salted, was crisp and flavorful. The pancakes were large, fluffy, homemade, and had great texture/flavor. The breakfast potatoes were parboiled then finished on the grill, slightly firm which is how they should be, not mushy. The coffee wasn't anything to brag about but it wasn't bad either. They leave a carafe on the table so you can too it off at will. I don't give many 5 stars, but after trying First Watch and Ginger Sue's, I now would recommend KK first for northland KC breakfast spots.
(5)Richard A.
Went for the first time for some Eggs Benedict last week. Got seated right away even though it was crowded.the service was excellent, food was good tasting and plentiful portions. Pricing was great and the place was clean. I'd defiantly go again. Good job Kate!! :-)
(4)Jon N.
When I went here i thought I might be going to an overrated restaurant, but I was wrong. The peanut butter pancakes could cure cancer. The hash browns were great, the sausage links were good, and the bacon was good bacon.
(5)Tim P.
Excellent service. Very good home-cooking style food. They went the extra yard and created something for me that was not on the menu!
(5)David L.
Love this place, every time im up early on Sunday I am there if not im getting carryout. Supper fast in the kitchen and perfect food every time. Stuffed french toast and the B&G are unbelievable. Staff is very good always making sure everything is perfect. Its always packed but I have never waited over 10 minutes. They turn tables really fast. Gotta try it!
(5)Pamela P.
Love this place! We go as often as we can. Always friendly smiles and service. Even on days when I want something not offered on menu the make every effort to please. Success! If you haven't tried them yet, GO!
(5)Brandy L.
I don't know if it was high expectations due to reviews or what but we were slightly disappointed. I ordered the special (chicken fried steak) and my husband ordered biscuits and gravy with eggs and patty sausage. The steak was flavorful but had a lot of breading so it seemed bigger than it actually was. Empty crust on edges. Mashed potatoes were unremarkable and the gravy was bland. I had to add pepper to give flavor. The French cut green beans were canned and had a ton of bacon that didn't taste like bacon. Salt and pepper didn't improve them. The biscuits were nice and big but again the gravy was very bland. I also don't understand including diced potatoes to biscuits and gravy. The sausage patties were preformed and tasted as such. We will be trying something different next time and see if it changes our opinion. Service was friendly if a little slow and we were left with the ticket wondering if we paid the waitress or a cashier up front. (Pay the cashier up front)
(3)Jason S.
Great breakfast and brunch food at an affordable price. However, the wait is very long, so be prepared.
(5)Michael M.
Fantastic food! They recently changed up the menu a bit, and took my favorite, the Eggs Benedict with Turkey and Avocado, off the menu, but if you ask for it, they'll still make it for you. The only complaint I have is that they haven't added chipped beef on toast to menu, but you can't have everything (well, you can with the Kitchen Sink omelet... haha).
(5)Lisa K.
Started our meal with a fresh from the oven delicious cinnamon roll! Always eat dessert first right? ;-) Tables have pitchers of water which makes it easy to keep a full glass. We had a group of six and our waitress got every special order correct. I ordered the salmon salad, no capers, ranch on the side and a blueberry muffin to go. Salmon wasn't the best quality but the salad was fresh and served quickly. They serve breakfast until they close (which I think is mid afternoon). Housed in a strip mall in the Northland it's our "First Watch" on North Oak.
(5)Josh H.
Today was the second time I have been here and everything was excellent again! The menu has a ton of different and unique choices, staff is friendly, and food comes out quick. They have flavored creamers, not the cheapo kind like most places. Will continue to go back whenever I'm in KC!!!
(5)Patrick F.
Breakfast does not get any better than this. Great prices... quick service... FANTASTIC food. I LOVE the waffles and the country scramble is killer. It's nothing fancy... but I don't want fancy for breakfast... I want to sit in a nice little diner and have coffee with a great home cooked style meal. Kate's delivers every time. I usually go on Friday morning's because I'm lucky enough to have them off... and even then it's pretty busy. I almost never have to actually wait on a Friday... but be prepared for a bit of a wait on a busy weekend. The food is well worth the wait.
(5)Sarah L.
We arrived at 9am on a Saturday, the place was packed. Our wait was about 20 minutes. There was a large choice of breakfast items for both the carnivore and non-carnivores at a great price. We ordered a Salmon Omelet (yum!) & Crab cake Benedict (not so yummy) because they sounded different. The potatoes were lightly seasoned and not too greasy. We spent about $10 each with coffee. I can't wait to go back and try something different. Service was great, no complaints.
(5)Aubrey L.
I came here just because of all the reviews. Our server was fantastic. Our food came out quick and was delicious. I will defiantly be back.
(5)Greg H.
We went to Kate's on Friday for breakfast and were hoping our meals were as good as all the great reviews we've seen on this place and we weren't disappointed. I had the brisket omelet with potatoes and wheat toast. This is an enormous 3 egg omelet with probably 1/4 pound of sliced brisket inside. Great smoky flavor on the meat and the cheddar-jack cheese, onions, and mushrooms all made for a great omelet. The potatoes were just ok........frozen breakfast potatoes, no big deal. My toast was a wheat-berry type of bread with great texture and taste. My wife said her BLT wrap was okay but my sister and her husband raved about the Eggs Benedict. Our waitress was quick and efficient without hovering over us. Note *** this place is busy so be prepared !!!
(5)Michelle B.
I love breakfast. No, I mean, I LOVE breakfast. I could probably eat bacon and pancakes/waffles/french toast and biscuits and gravy until my tummy hurt, and I have done that before. I've heard really great things about Kate's, so I was elated to have a reason to try it a couple weeks back. Verdict: Not so much. Don't get me wrong, the French toast, eggs and bacon were tasty enough. Tasty enough for me to drive all the way up to the Northland and expect some orgasmic thrill of a breakfast ride? Unforunately, no. I've had much more exciting breakfast experiences at places like Succotash, First Watch, or Big Biscuit in Independence. But then again, I had no-frills French toast. Reading all these other reviews makes my mouth water and makes me wish I would've had something a little more exciting. So perhaps, next time, I will. Yes, I will give you another try, Kate's. If you fail me, I will retreat to my fluffy Big Biscuit biscuits and face-sized Succotash blueberry pancakes.
(3)Jacqueline C.
A lot like First Watch, Kate's is also a bit different. The service is like rapid fire and everyone is friendly! We walked in and thought "oh no, we are never going to eat" but in under 14 minutes we had a table and in about 8 minutes we had food! Everything was delicious. I recommend the breakfast sandwich and make sure you get the breakfast potatoes!
(4)Deandra A.
My friend and I went to lunch on a Sunday. There was quite a wait, which is usually a good sign. The service was good, food was excellent and the portions were great. For the quality of food and the amount of food you receive, the prices were excellent. I will definitely be returning.
(4)Amanda S.
We LOVE Kate's, we go every Sunday. They are always packed but we have never had to wait more then 15 minutes. The wait is totally worth it because the food is always fresh, hot, and delicious. Best breakfast place in NKC - don't let their strip mall location fool you. My only wish...is that they were open for dinner too!!
(5)Andrew G.
Great food, excellent and friendly staff. It's really one of the only place you'd want to go for some incredibly good breakfast and brunch food.
(4)Steve S.
Kate's does breakfast incredibly well! So well, in fact, that people come from miles around. Thus, the one drawback is the wait. Large families or groups just crush the place. On Sundays the line is so long you will likely have to wait on the sidewalk out front so be prepared.... Otherwise... Food: Great. Eggs are fresh and cooked to order (they actually know what "scrambled soft" means and do it right!) Biscuits are large and fluffy. Coffee is a little rough, but everything else is great. Service: Once you finally get to your table, service is great. Fast and friendly. Price: Completely reasonable.
(4)Marissa P.
Great little breakfast spot and affordable! I made the rookie mistake of showing up on a Saturday with not a lot of extra time. I thought I can beaten the brunch crowd but I was wrong. I didn't have time to wait for a table so I inquired about take out, the owner personally took my order rushed and and had it to me prior to my even getting though the line to pay! Now that's service! The breakfast sandwich and potatoes where quick tasty and gave me some much needed energy for my morning hike.
(5)Zach K.
Kate's really sets the bar at being an amazing brunch spot. If you're local, this place will remind you of First Watch -- yet a million times better. In fact, I've heard rumors that the owner(s) were once affiliated or managed First Watch locations which would explain the similarities. Other brunch locations in the area could use to take a few pointers from the likes of Kate's Kitchen. Tucked away in North Kansas City (Gladstone are to be exact) and sitting in a strip mall is Kates. You wouldn't expect this place to be this awesome -- in fact I happened to stumble upon it from the help of a slot machine type application on my iPhone that happen to choose Kate's based on my location. What I love about Kate's is they cater to all types of people and lifestyles. Their menu selection was actually well thought out and prepared with care. They offer delicious scrambles, benedicts, omelets, tons of sandwiches, a whole line of pancakes (which are awesome), outrageous french toast and waffle combo's too. My favorite is they offer healthy varieties too -- nothing irk's me anymore than places that offer breakfast with no healthier alternatives (turkey bacon, egg white omelet's, fruit as a side, etc). Kate's has an abundance of healthy options, and pairing these healthier options with a not so healthy pancake or french toast variety is a an excellent option in my opin' :) If you're in the mood for something gut busting (and perhaps going to the gym later) you have to try The King (A waffle topped with peanut butter, banana's, powdered sugar and butter), the Caramel Nut French Toast (French Toast topped w/ Kate's Caramel Sauce, Fresh Banana's, and Pecans), or for the more savory appetite the Stuffed French Toast (french toast stuffed with sausage, cheese, and scrambled eggs). This place is ridiculously affordable -- I often feel I'm robbing the place after I pay for my meal. You really can't go wrong here.
(5)Steve I.
What a cute little place. It's clearly popular - I was in at 10:30 on a Tuesday and it was pretty packed. The menu is a bit different in person than the one on the website, but it was tasty. The potatoes were great, and the lox scramble (which I had them do from the lox omelet) was pretty good. I also appreciated the ability to trade my toast for berries. I would have given it four stars as it was wonderful, but not perfect. But the prices are ridiculously low. So in terms of getting what you pay for, 5 stars.
(5)Alexis R.
A go-to for breakfast in the Northland, Kate's Kitchen is usually packed on the weekend. With quick, friendly service though, you get a table in no time. With a similar setup as First Watch, Kate's Kitchen is a bit homier, with all the breakfast and brunch stand-bys one comes to expect. The prices are amazing. I had a breakfast sandwich with eggs, cheese and bacon on a croissant with potatoes and fruit for $5.40. My BF had 3 huge slabs of french toast made on whole grain bread for $5.99 with eggs and bacon added for $2.75. It was a very comfortable atmosphere, and they had a good selection of lunch items as well. Their sandwiches looked good and the portion sizes are huge for the price. I'd definitely recommend it if you are looking for a solid breakfast choice in the area.
(4)Sherrie S.
Clean/friendly place. Went on a Sunday morning, long line of people waiting but the place is quick with getting it turned over. Waited about 15 min. Service was FAST. We got our food in about 6-7 minutes. I had the breakfast sandwich on a croissant w/potatoes and fruit. They were skimpy on the fruit but quality of the breakfast was really good.
(3)Sammie P.
I'm a a Breakfast conniseuer, expert, self proclaimed KING, of Breakfast. Kates is Good, Clean, and Reasonably priced. I ordered the daily special, and a cinnamon roll, and an their infamous pecan carmel banana french toast. The waiter stopped me and asked if i wanted to get the 1/2 order of french toast realizing how much food I ordered. The 'special' (egg scramble denveromelette style) was very tasty with nice chunky crispy potoato hashbrowns. Very Tasty Cinnamon roll was very tasty but not as big as I like. (Corner Cafe style) The pecan carmel banana french toast was good, not nearly what I expected. carmel sauce was a little bland, and the syrup was very bland. Overall Kates is a good breakfast stop. I'll go back
(4)David W.
We experienced a mixed review here. The pancakes and California fresh chicken sand. were great! but the Crabcakes benedicts and the Canadian Bacon benedicts wer just nasty ! Another review discribed the crabcakes as a bad fish smell and thats exactly how they tasted to me . We complained to the sever but he just said sorry. Both people sent their benedicts back un eaten and the server did not care. You know we came in hunury wanting food. What kind of restaurant servies food and sees that it is not eaten and doesnt care if the dinner leaves hungary ! are you kiding me !
(3)Danielle R.
I definitely prefer local joints to hopping i's and barrels of crackers and Kate's hits the spot. The menu has all you could want in a bruncheonette and there is even quite an extensive. I did sample the coffee and it was delicious, plus there are even flavored creamers at the table! I tried the cheesy omelet and a blueberry pancake. They were both delicious! The drawbacks were the over-crowding (you have the potential to be a few inches away from the table next to you) and on a busy Sunday I felt almost rushed by our waitress. I also agree that there could be a little bit more creativity with some of the dishes but I was not disappointment. There are just a few places in the area I'd rather eat at which is why 3 instead of 4 stars here. But, keep up the good work Kate's!
(3)Nancy K.
Burned out on local breakfast places we rushed to Kate's. I am excited to say that we have found a new place to go! It reminded me a little of First Watch as it was very clean, bright and simple in its decor. The menu had all kinds of goodies on it. It was a difficult decision when faced with things like "Ken's Cadillac of Burritos" which contains chorizo, avocado, eggs, tomato and spinach OR the crab cake and tomato eggs Benedict. Ah! The choices! And that's just breakfast. The menu also featured sliders, sandwiches, salads and wraps. Just when I thought I'd have to get both, the waiter informed me of the special. It was a chorizo, spinach, mushroom and cream cheese scramble for $6.85. Sold. The kicker? They also have Sriracha and if you don't know what that is just go get some, you'll never need ketchup again. Oh! The spicy goodness of it all! Kate's is a cute place with a lot of delicious entrees available. It is in a strip mall so don't overlook it. Definitely worth the change, great breakfast place.
(5)A E.
Excellent food and huge portions for a very reasonable price. The kids pancakes are not only cute, but gigantic. There is usually a wait but it goes by quickly and it worth it. For those with kids, paper and crayons are included which is always appreciated. Best breakfast in the northland, hands down.
(5)S J.
Great food. Great service. Always busy. Reminds me of First Watch when First Watch was good.
(5)Diane S.
This is a great place! There was a wait but it went by very fast. The waitress was attentive without hovering and the order came quickly. I had chicken fingers which really weren't chicken fingers but something more moist, larger and much more delicious! I would much rather go here than any other chain. And I'll be back to try the cinnamon rolls.
(4)Tricia H.
Love this place, has your normally breakfast choices and many many more! I love the fact if I wanna go lite with some crepes and fruit they have it! Great atmosphere, great service and great food can't ask for much more than that!
(5)Micah S.
Loved Kate's Kitchen. Everything was perfectly cooked, priced and delivered. I loved the fact that the food was not over salted or seasoned. You could actually taste the food. Portions were perfect size for the price. They paid perfect attention to our 5 year old, which I appreciate. The only disappointment was there were not grits on the menu. My daughter was devastated. This is definitely the best place for breakfast in the Northland!
(5)Deana W.
I had two of my favorite men folk with me when I sampled breakfast at Kate's Kitchen for the first time. If I were to review my food alone, I would give Kate 4 stars. I love the idea of having a place with similar menu options to that of First Watch up in my neck of the woods. Someone definitely put some thought into the menu. There are some really cool choices, like, what I was clever enough to choose. The scramble with salmon and cream cheese. Lovingly topped with a hollandaise sauce, served with a good quality wheat bread, and toasted perfectly. I would love to see Kate put out some homemade peach or strawberry jam. That would be 5 stars! If Loveless cafe in Tennessee can do it, Kate's can, too. Many of the dishes served come with a side of fried, diced potatoes. I felt that these were very bland and somewhat boring. Probably my fault, I'm a tried and true hash brown sorta girl. The addition of onions, peppers, or maybe just a sprinkle of herbs and spices would do a great deal to elevate these potatoes. I thought that the biscuits and gravy with meat (bacon) and eggs for a mere $6.99, looked awesome. Big, fat, fluffy biscuits, smothered in gravy. However my husband prefers a more dense biscuit texture. To each their own. Unfortunately, his eggs, which he requested be lightly basted, were cooked firm. An irreparable faux pas for an egg lover. My other breakfast aficionado ordered the cheesy, cheesy, cheesy omelette with bacon and a large orange juice. A single pancake on the side with" hot "syrup (nice touch). I do hate to say it , but they will have to take out two of the "cheesy". Yep, hurts me to say, but there was in fact no drippy, oozing cheese. There was cheese, but certainly not enough to give it the aforementioned name. Perhaps if it had arrived fresh from the grill it might have been better. It was a tad cool. The waiter seemed to be very friendly, but forgetful. We had to ask three times for Tabasco. Every restaurant has a bad day, I know that. I do. There is definitely enough right with this place to recommend it. Kudos on the great prices! Wahooo! for interesting choices, i.e. salmon, cream cheese and hollandaise. I wish I had been able to sample the scramble with spinach, andouille, and sour cream, that was referred to by Michael W. That sounds tempting! That's what I'm talking about...elevate that egg! Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. So if you're in the Northland stop in at Kate's Kitchen and give them a chance to make you a satisfied customer.
(3)Shelley Y.
My hubby and I went to Kate's Kitchen this morning (Saturday) for breakfast. It was busier than we expected which is always a good sign. We loved the homey atmosphere and mom 'n pop sensibility. The kitchen area had no door which exposed shelves full of juices and other kitchen-y things. This may put some off but we saw it as they had nothing to hide. I ordered the canadian bacon, spinach, tomato eggs benedict and Hubby ordered 2 eggs over medium, corned beef hash, and toast. Both of our meals came with home fry style potatoes. The food was good and the price was great! My benedict seriously lacked spinach but what was included was bright green and fresh. Unlike another reviewer, my hollandaise was not sweet and clear but savory and butter yellow. Hubbys eggs were cooked well but the corned beef hash was not house made. I'm fairly certain it was straight outta the can with a little crisp put on it. That disappointment aside, we did really love it. Why? Well, because it's local, Christian owned, and reminds me of home. Everything may not be perfect but it's served with love and you feel you'll always be welcome. We plan on taking our kids back very soon.

Ok packed on a Sunday morning, the wife said lets go to Kate's after church. I said OK she had to be at work by 11:45. I pulled up and said ugh no way. SRO. But we ventured in, What 10-15, sure we will wait, yup I can be negative at times so I set my watch..... 9 minutes we were heading to our table. We viewed the menu and It's not just a breakfast place they got sandwiches salads but are only open till two that's okay. When Bailey came by and took our order she took our drink order and she said are you ready to order your food sure so we ordered breakfast. In a packed restaurant with tables everywhere we had our food with in 10 minutes after order. Bailey our server was attentive always refilling asking if we were good, needed anything. Story short we walked out of there with our check in hand 28 minutes after we sat down we were satisfied good hot food I'm a fan, I'm a big fan I will be back go try it, don't worry about the line at the door the hosts and hostesses they got you covered

Good food and nice portion sizes. My husband has a food allergy and still had plenty of choices. We will go back!

Food was not good at all the highlight of my plate was the green beans :(. I had the chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes...gross. Not what I would call a special.

First Watch is usually our #1 choice for a sit-down breakfast, but since the Armour Road location is currently closed we decided to give Kate's Kitchen a try. The interior reminds me a lot of First Watch in its decor. I ordered the brisket omelet, my wife ordered the cinnamon roll French toast and my kids got waffles. The brisket omelet was tasty and very filling. (It's three hours since I ate, and I'm still stuffed.). My wife reported her French toast was very good, and the kids ate their waffles without complaint. Only problem we had was I ordered an English muffin and got toast instead. (This wasn't a huge problem as I really didn't want the English muffin and I just gave the toast to my son.). Best part was our food arrived very quickly, less than 10 minutes despite the fact that there were quite a few customers inside. At First Watch twenty minute waits are not uncommon. Overall, I would recommend Kate's Kitchen to others, and I look forward to going back and trying other items on the menu.

All around a great experience. Staff was very friendly and quick! Whether is was taking the order, cooking food, or getting the check, everything happened fast and smooth. Food was perfect portion size and tasted awesome. This is my new KC "go to" breakfast place.

For the love of everything holy, get some biscuits. They're insane. I had biscuits and sausage gravy. It came with an entire boat of gravy that you load on yourself, which I liked because I liked to load it on. I ordered up to get eggs, bacon, and potatoes. All of it was great but seriously, get biscuits regardless of what you order. They were the envy of the table.
